ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE UNITED STATES VISA

An Indian national needs to fulfill the following eligibility conditions to get a US Visa:

  1. The applicant must have a valid Indian passport before applying for a US Visa.
  2. Must not have any history of criminal cases or any ongoing cases.
  3. If applying for a student visa, the applicant needs to have a letter of acceptance from the respective university.
  4. For a business visa, the applicant must have a letter of confirmation from the employer.
  5. Must have enough financial resources to cover yourself during your stay in the USA.
  6. Must have travel insurance for traveling to the US. In case you don’t have travel insurance, you can get it from Visa Lounge at an additional cost.
  7. The applicant must go through a medical examination by an approved physician for sound health and should not have any communicable diseases such as tuberculosis.

TYPES OF US VISA

BUSINESS VISA (B1)

The B1 Visa or the Business Visa is given to the applicants who want to visit the US for business activities. It is used by business professionals for purposes that include meetings, training, conducting negotiations, interviewing or hire staff, and for research purposes for which are not being paid in the USA.

TOURIST VISA (B2)

A B2 Visa or the Tourism Visa is given to the people who want to travel to the US for the sole purpose of a holiday or recreational purposes.

STUDENT VISA (F1)

A Student Visa or an F1 Visa is given to those students who are accepted by accredited U.S colleges and universities and fulfil certain criteria. It allows you to stay in the USA until the duration of your course.

WORK VISA (H1 – B, H-4)

Work Visa is temporary in nature that is given to skilled workers to fill vacancies in the USA for a fixed period. You must have a four-year college degree or equivalent work experience to be eligible for this Visa.

TRAINEE VISA (H-3)

A Trainee Visa is designed for professionals who want to travel to the US for training in any field other than medical training. You are only eligible for this if the proposed training is not available in your own country.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR US VISA

Business Visa

  • Passport: Should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of submission of the visa with a minimum of 3 available blank pages (please attach all the old passports if you have any).
  • Application Form: A duly filled DS160 visa application form (online) under the supervision of our travel experts. Based on the availability of the consulate, an appointment will be scheduled (post the submission of the application form).

Note: The applicant has to carry all the original documents for submission and the biometrics on the day of the appointment.

  • Photographs: Two recent passport size color photographs measuring 2 X 2 inches (51mm X 51mm) and 80% face close up taken against a white background.

Note: The photo must be taken within the last 3 months with no shadows. It should not be scanned, stapled, or used in any of the previous visas.

  • Covering Letter: A covering letter must have complete details of travel, traveler, the period of stay, and the purpose of the visit. The letter must be duly signed by the authorized signatory with the company stamp on it and must be addressed to the Consulate General of the United States of America, Mumbai.
  • Invitation Letter: An invitation letter from the applicant’s sponsor addressing the Visa Officer, Consulate General of the United States of America, Mumbai. The letter must possess the name of the applicant, nationality, passport number, purpose of visit, the period of stay with dates, proof of residency, evidence of funds to cover for expenses in the US, declaration of support, and financial documents of the sponsor. 
    1. IT Returns/ Form 16 for the last three years.
    2. Updated bank statements for the last six months with the bank’s seal and sign.
    3. Salary slip for the last six months.
    4. Business Registration documents- MOA or Partnership Deed.
    5. Investment documents such as fixed deposits, fixed assets, insurance policies, etc.
    6. Airline Reservation Ticket.
  • Note:
  1. Personal appearance is required for the interview.
  2. In case of temporary injuries on your finger, please wait until the injuries heal before the appointment date. Keep your hands clean for a clear scan.
  3. If you are applying for children under 5 years, you can go to Offsite Facilitation Center (OFC) and drop the application in the dropbox. Also, attach the visa and passport copy of the parents with the application form that you are giving to the authority.

Tourist Visa

  • Passport: Original passport with a validity of six months from the date of submission of the visa. The passport must have a minimum of 3 blank pages. The applicant must also carry all the old and expired passports if he/she has any.
  • Application Form: A duly filled DS160 Visa application form and the code. The applicant must answer every question mentioned in the application form. The applicant has to sign the form electronically. 
  • Photographs: Two recent passport size color photographs measuring 2 X 2 inches (51mm X 51mm) and 80% face close up taken against a white background.

Note: The photo must be taken within the last 3 months with no shadows. It should not be scanned, stapled, or used in any of the previous visas.

  • Covering Letter: a letter describing the purpose of your visit.
  • Proof of Occupation:

If a company employee

  1. A leave letter from your employer with an attached NOC.
  2. Payslips for the last three months.

If self-employed

  1. MOA of the company/ Partnership Deed showing you as the ownership of the company.
  2. Income Tax Return for the last three years.
  3. Updated bank statement for the last six months with a bank seal and sign.

For student

  1. Must provide id card copy and the leave sanction letter from the school.
  2. No Objection Certificate along with the ITR and Bank statement should be provided by the parents
  • If Visiting a Relative: Photocopies of the relative’s status in the US. Ex- Green Card, Valid Visa, etc.
  • Proof of Return: Travel itinerary, job contract, lease or property deed, or family ties with your home country which will prove your return.
  • Financial Proof: Bank or financial statements that will prove you have the required finances to stay in the United States of America of at least $255 per day of your planned stay.
  • Details Of Social Media: A list of all the social media accounts along with the name that you use in those accounts.

Note:

PROCESSING TIME

Post-interview, the processing time takes around a minimum of 2-3 days.
