About Denmark

Denmark is a Jutland Peninsula country, extending north from Central Western Europe, and an Island of more than 400 east of the Peninsula, a country which occupies a peninsula of Jutland (Jylland). The island of Vendsyssel-Thy at its Nord tip (1,809 sq. miles[ 4,685 square km]), which is divided from the continent by the Lim fjord, is situated in the midst of the land of the country. Zealand’s (Sjælland; 2715 km2), Vendsyssel-Thy, and Funen were the largest of the country’s islands (Fyn; 1,152 km2).[ 2,984 square km]. The islands are the largest in the world. Denmark is, together with Norway and Sweden, a region known as Scandinavia in northern Europe. Copenhagen (København), the country’s capital, is primarily located in Zealand; Århus, the second biggest city, is the biggest urban center in Jutland.

Although small, Denmark has nevertheless played an important role in European history. At prehistoric times, when Vikings conducted marauding, trading and expeditions to colonize Danes and Scandinavians transformed European civilization. In the Middle Ages, by the Kalmar Union, the Danish crown was the dominant element in north-western Europe. Denmark has established trade alliances in northern and western Europe, particularly with the United Kingdom and the United States in the following siens, with the help of geographical conditions favoring the maritime industry. Denmark has also developed humane governmental institutions and cooperative, peaceful solutions to problems to make an important contribution to world culture.

At the Jutland42-mile (68-km) border with Germany Denmark is directly connected to continental Europe. Both boundaries are maritime, including that with the UK to the west across the North Sea. Other than this connectedness. Norway and Sweden lie north, along the sea paths between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, isolated from Denmark. The Skagerrak, the Kattegat and the Sound (Øresund) are called in these passages from west to east. The Danish island of Bornholm is situated east in the Baltic Sea.

Why you should study in Denmark?

The overall environment in Denmark is important for potential international students, because moving to a new country, especially for young persons, can be quite stressful. This is why your attitude towards this area, your studies, and your career path ultimately depends on the learning setting (as well as the position you live there). This ensures you can give the right option morale boost while mistake can lead to consequences and long-term issues in your career.

Top-rated universities & colleges

Copenhagen University is one of Denmark’s largest universities. There is a strong international exchange rate for students with a variety of courses you can choose from. In the Nordic Countries, it is also one of the biggest centers.

The University of Southern Denmark offers foreign students attractive research programs. The request process is simple and gives students coming to Denmark from abroad ideas for accommodation. The university offers a number of English courses and welcomes exchange students.

Get Scholarships

Most universities offer scholarships, grants and/or financial assistance to finance your study, although the international students do not have all scholarships available. Nevertheless, you and your goals are exceptional in other respects to earn scholarships.

Check your university or college at home because it can also offer scholarships, grants, or essay competitions that allow you to make money to study at an international level.

These are listed on the website of your school or you can ask your advisor regarding your options.

Tradition & Values

Traditional events, including “Kapsejlads” at Aarhus University, meaning Spring regatta, are also organized. The students are meeting at Roskilde Festival in the center of the campus for an evening of drinks, recreation, boat races and a nude run around the lakes.

Friday Bars, which hosts wild, themed parties in different university departments, are another tradition. Throughout the year, this offers more fun and variety and is a great way to connect with your classmates.

Study in the happiest country

Denmark, through the World Happiness Survey, was declared the world’s happiest country in April 2016. The team from the University of British Columbia analyzed the common features of the 156 surveyed countries: a high GDP per capita, a healthy life span at birth and a lack of government corruption. But there are also three important issues in which individual citizens have a slightly greater influence over a sense of social security, the freedom to make life choices, and the culture of a generation. This helps people and their world to be well-being.
